Lydia launched her career as a broadcast journalist on radio before transitioning to television. During her tenure at CBS affiliate NewsChannel 5 in Nashville, she served as a political reporter and weekend anchor and was awarded a Southeast Regional Emmy.
Covering politics sparked a career shift, and Lydia joined the gubernatorial campaign of candidate Phil Bredesen, serving as his press secretary. She continued in that role when he was elected the 48th
governor of Tennessee, engaging with countless reporters, managing crises and driving home key messages. In Bredesen’s subsequent U.S. Senate campaign, she served as chief of staff to former First Lady Andrea Conte.
Lydia’s time in public service led her to serve in executive roles at Lipscomb University’s College of Leadership and Public Service. She seized the opportunity to mentor in Lipscomb’s journalism department and continues to pursue rewarding mentorship with local university students and MBPR’s junior team members today.
Consultant work followed her time with Lipscomb, with Lydia assisting local nonprofits to secure media coverage and expand their community engagement. This experience was her gateway to public relations and joining MBPR.
As an MBPR senior advisor, Lydia draws on her years of reporting experience to effectively guide clients through impactful storytelling, from development to securing coverage. Her insider’s playbook is an invaluable resource when leading clients through the nuances of media training.
Lydia has secured national coverage for the time honored CSX Santa Train and global nonprofit Soles4Souls. She has elevated HCA Healthcare’s research and emergency operations and brought attention to Middle Tennessee Electric’s work from close to home to the remote reaches of Guatemala.
Lydia is devoted to community service, volunteer work and giving back. She serves on the boards of the Rotary Club of Nashville, Senior Ride Nashville and the Civic Design Center. She graduated summa cum laude with a journalism degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa.
